Circle for Critical Linguistic and Literary Studies is a research group within the English Literature Program at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Jember. This research group focuses on critical studies in language and literature. Critical Linguistics and Critical Literary Studies are rapidly growing fields within the humanities over the past decade. Language and literature studies have moved away from isolated disciplines, instead synergizing under the umbrella of cultural studies.
Over the past five years, critical linguistics and literary studies have been developing within the English Literature Program at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Jember. This is evident from the emergence of these topics as research subjects among students. This growth is due to the efforts of faculty members who are dedicated to advancing knowledge, especially in cultural, linguistic, and literary studies. Informal discussions involving faculty and students, though not yet scheduled regularly, have become quite common in the English Literature Program.
The formation of the Circle for Critical Linguistic and Literary Studies aims to provide a dedicated space for researchers to further develop this emerging field. This formal institution will serve as a platform for scholarly activities, including regular discussions, research, and publications. It will also support students in conducting research and writing their theses.
